About Olly’s House Of Jazz

Olly’s House Of Jazz (formerly The Jazz Soul Boogie Band) features the piano and vocals of Olly Wedgwood and has been refining itself since 2004 into highly recommended jazz band. Olly has been gigging at wedding and parties, and leading bands for over twenty years, starting early on by founding the ‘Big Jazz and Blues Band’ during his sixth form at Hampton School. At Cambridge University, he then founded, conducted, arranged music for and managed Selwyn Jazz, an 18-piece swing band as well as The Lovehandles – a high energy rhythm & blues 9-piece function band playing high energy covers to the bopping student masses!

After University, Olly worked as an engineer and physics teacher by day and gigged by night with various jazz and soul ensembles, both as a jazz pianist-vocalist and as a ‘front man’ entertainer. In 2004, Olly handed in his notice and went pro, playing frequently with the Oxford Jazz Quintet – one of Jamie Cullum’s previous groups before he rocketed to stardom. Olly’s gigging took him across the UK to play at prestigious venues such as Blenheim Palace, The Dorchester Hotel and Syon Park to name but a few.

Olly then combined the talents of the many professional players he worked with on the gig circuit with his own arrangements resulting in the formation of the professional and thoroughly versatile Jazz Soul Boogie Band. For many years, the Jazz Soul Boogie Band performed as a high-energy wedding function band, performing well-known soul, swing and funky covers for the delight of dancers and listeners alike.
In recent years, Olly has refined the Jazz Soul Boogie Band ensembles into Olly’s House Of Jazz offering a delicious variety of flavours ranging from the Jazz Duo for a classy background vibe, up to the full 5-piece Big Sound Quintet performing foot-tapping mainstream jazz swing and Latin classics.
